New York Knicks Take Commanding 2-0 Series Lead Over Cleveland Cavaliers in Eastern Conference Finals

The New York Knicks are two wins away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 after taking a dominant 2-0 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Game 2, played Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, saw the Knicks cruise to a 109-93 victory behind another masterful performance from Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.

Brunson finished with 26 points and 8 assists, but it was Hart who stole the show. The do-everything guard posted 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists while playing his trademark relentless defense, energizing the Garden crowd with every hustle play. Karl-Anthony Towns added 17 points and 9 rebounds, while OG Anunoby chipped in 16 points.

Game 2 was far less dramatic than the series opener. In Game 1 on Tuesday night, the Knicks pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in NBA playoff history, erasing a 22-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime and win 115-104. Brunson scored 38 points, including 13 in the final period, as Madison Square Garden erupted.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 26 points in Game 2, but Cleveland struggled against New York defense. Evan Mobley recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, while James Harden added 13 points and 6 assists.

The Cavaliers now face a must-win situation as the series shifts to Cleveland for Game 3 tonight. Teams that take a 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven series advance approximately 92% of the time.

New York has held Cleveland to under 100 points in five of their seven playoff games this postseason. Game 3 tips off tonight at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.

The winner faces either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, which begin June 3.
