Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel isn’t going anywhere. In a move that ensures his long-running feud with Donald Trump will continue to air on national television, Kimmel announced on Monday that he has signed a contract extension with ABC to keep Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the air through May 2027.
“Another No-Talent Year”
The announcement comes directly on the heels of fresh attacks from the President-elect. Over the weekend, while hosting the Kennedy Center Honors, Trump singled out Kimmel, calling him “horrible” and comparing himself favorably to the comedian. Trump later took to Truth Social to demand the host be removed from the airwaves, labeling him a “bum” with no talent.
Kimmel, never one to back down, used his Monday night monologue to respond with his signature wit. “I am pleased to announce another no-talent year,” he joked, directly referencing Trump’s insults. He went on to challenge Trump to a “talent competition,” offering to play the clarinet or draw while suggesting the President could demonstrate his own unique set of skills.
A History of Conflict
The tension between the two figures has become a staple of pop culture and political discourse. Trump has frequently targeted Kimmel for his jokes, while Kimmel has made the President a primary subject of his nightly monologues. With the show now secured for at least two more years, viewers can expect the banter to continue well into the new administration.
